Why is SOC 2 Important?
SOC 2 compliance is a component of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)’s Service Organization Control reporting platform. Its goal is to ensure that the technology-based service organizations are assuring security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of customer data. SOC 2 requires that a MSP develop security policies and procedures that are written out and followed.
How does it affect integrations for Automate?
As the MSP, you want to give your helpdesk the tools to be able to provide rapid assistance to customers for things such as disabling users upon employment termination, unlocking accounts, and resetting passwords. But you don't want the helpdesk staff to be able to create or remove users as that requires documented approval and privileged access control for the customers and is a security risk per SOC2 MSP compliance.
If you use ConnectWise Automate, then having access to your client's Active Directory at your fingertips is critical to saving time and energy when managing their environments. Active Directory UC was shaped in part by SOC 2 compliance because of the need to meet stricter security and auditing regulations.
Active Directory UC integration for ConnectWise Automate provides permission-based control over the engineers and technicians activities. Each client can have a set of permissions applied that controls access to key functions, only allowing the user access to items approved by security policies. Active Directory UC has a global permission policy that can apply to all clients not set with a permissions policy, making sure that new clients immediately follow the MSPs default security policies over remote domain management.
Changes in the MSP marketspace is forever ongoing, to be completive your tools need to adjust to new environments and situations. Here at Plugins4Automate we understand this and are working hard making sure we are considerate of these needs.
